There are places that invite you to pause the moment you arrive.
Sisters Sanctuary in Raglan is one of them.
Set on the gentle rise of the Rangitahi Peninsula, this retreat is a study in serenity.
A home wrapped in cedar, warmed by soft natural light, and grounded by the quiet beauty of its surroundings. It’s a space that feels both held and open, where the rhythm of the tides and the hum of native birds set the pace of the day.
Designed by Georgia Peacocke from Edwards White, the home was built as a sanctuary for her and her sisters. A place to connect, restore, and simply be.
For a recent Lujo campaign shoot, we chose Sisters Sanctuary as the backdrop not simply for its architecture, but for its atmosphere. The home embodies something we hold close: the art of slow living, and the pleasure found in stillness.
Inside, textured plaster walls meet walnut timber and travertine stone. Sunlight moves across the surfaces throughout the day, revealing layers of tone, warmth, and quiet detail. Nothing is loud. Nothing demands. The space simply invites. A moment on the veranda. A pause by the fire. A breath taken with views stretching toward the horizon.
It’s this sense of calm — of being able to soften into your surroundings — that made it the perfect setting for showcasing our pieces. The sanctuary’s gentle tones and natural materials mirrored the ethos behind Lujo: thoughtful design, enduring craft, and the simple luxury of comfort.
Outdoors, the landscape opens into rolling green and revitalised native plantings, with long walking tracks looping around the peninsula. Indoors, the home is arranged to frame the ebb and flow of the harbour. Everywhere you turn, there’s a view to rest the gaze, a corner to slow down, a sense of time expanding.
Our campaign sought to capture that feeling. The warm quiet, the long exhale, the moments spent doing nothing at all. Sisters Sanctuary offered it effortlessly. A home built for sharing, connecting, restoring. A place that reminds us that beauty doesn’t need to be loud, it just needs to be felt.
For those longing for the same sense of pause, Sisters Sanctuary is available to book for stays via Airbnb. An opportunity to experience its calm, its craft, and its restorative atmosphere first hand.
And for us at Lujo, it was a reminder of why we design the way we do.
To encourage more moments like these.
